Parking Assist helps the driver to get in and out of parking spaces with suitable steering manoeuvers. Ultrasonic sensors are used to search for suitable transverse and longitudinal parking spaces. For transverse parking spaces (forwards and backwards) the ideal parking manoeuvres are calculated, for parallel parking spaces the ideal entry and exit parking manoeuvres.The steering process is taken over by the system. The driver merely has to change gears, accelerate, brake and monitor the parking procedure as instructed in the display. Depending on the steering angle, the visual display can warn of side obstacles by displaying the lane. Parking in several moves is supported. Parking search is activated in the lower display and with the parking aid switched on in the upper display.
