    The start-stop system helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by switching the engine off when the vehicle is at a standstill. If the driver stops the vehicle at the traffic lights, for example, moves the gear lever to neutral and takes his foot off the accelerator, the system switches the engine off. The starting process is initiated as soon as the driver presses the clutch or releases the foot brake for the vehicle to move off again.
